Straw(berry) Shortcake {Foodie Friday}

July 5, 2013

Happy 5th of July Ladies! I hope you are tanned, well rested, and loving this long weekend! I’m Heather over at From Here to There and boy do I have a great 4th of July weekend dessert for us! Don’t worry….if you are tired of barbequing….and cooking…..this dessert is PERFECT for you!

I love a good dessert, but I don’t believe it has to be filled with sweat and blood {Matilda, anyone?} to be delicious and worth the calories! I’m bringing y’all a beautiful dessert that is perfect for this Mississippi Summer heat & humidity!

Straw{berry} Shortcake
Serves: 4

1 box of Strawberries (washed and cup)
1 package of Lady Fingers
Organic Agave Nectar
Cool Whip

PIC #1

1. Drizzle a heaping of agave nectar in with the strawberries
*Honestly, I don’t measure, so use as much or as little as you want*
2. Begin layering your shortcake: Take 3 lady fingers and lay on the plate, scoop a layer of the strawberry mixture, and a dollop of cool whip.

PIC #2

3. Continue on for one more layer: lady fingers, strawberry mixture, cool whip.

Since it’s the Fourth of July weekend, this recipe will no doubt be a great hit for your summer cook out. You could even add in some blueberries to be patriotic like I did!

heather's photoHeather is a great Southerner from the fabulous state of Mississippi!  She knows a lot of people have some negative views of our beautiful state, but she loves it here!   She’s in her twenties and is just figuring out this journey called life as it takes her from one place to the next!  You can find Heather at From Here to There.
