PicMonkey {Tech Tuesday}

September 10, 2013

One of the biggest assets to your blog is PICTURES!  Pictures not only grab interest.  They also break up the task of reading lengthy blog posts and keeping readers engaged.  I find myself often scrolling through blog posts looking at the pictures to see if I want to spend what little time I have reading what bloggers have to say.

There are a few things I like to do before I post pictures in my blog posts.  First, I always edit them!  Some more than others.  If nothing else, I stick it in iPhoto and click “Auto Enhance.”  Most times I tweak it more.  There are many times I create collages of photos to save room in my blog post…especially when I can’t make up my mind which pictures to show!  I just show them all in a collage!  I used to do this in Picasa.  Now, I do this in PicMonkey!  And. I. Love. It!

PicMonkey is completely FREE!  Did you hear that?  Of course, you can pay to upgrade your service options, but it is not a necessity. PicMonkey is a free photo editing website that is super easy to use and has endless possibilities.  There is no way I can share it all in this one post.  I use PicMonkey for collages, watermarking, and embellishments.  Especially for those of you enabling “pin it” buttons on your posts.

 Another wonderful use for PicMonkey is creating blog buttons for your blog or logos for a blog series you host.  For example, I am hosting an adoption blog series on Wednesdays called God Gave Us Love.  I created this beautiful blog button from one of our photos taken the day we brought our daughter home.  The overlays, fonts, corner rounding, and more made this blog button look nothing short of professional!  In my humble opinion, of course.  Ha! (More on blog buttons coming soon!)

If you are looking for ways to enhance the look of your blog, start with your photos.  Go ahead.  Play around with PicMonkey and see if it is right for you.  I can’t believe I waited so long to find it myself!

My blog is new and I just recently discovered pic monkey. It is super easy to use, but I need help in putting these things on my side bar and trying to make my blog look good. In other words as far as Word Press goes, I have no idea what I’m doing! Help! Anybody! I want a pretty blog!
