Meet Nickolee {Miss November}

November 4, 2013

Hi yall! Can you believe it’s November?!? Hopefully, most of you are finally able to pull out that pair of jeans and maybe even a sweater (at least at night – right?) but for us, we have our HOT season underway. That’s right – in Madagascar we’re in the Summer season! Can you imagine Thanksgiving and Christmas without a glimmer of a hope of seeing your breath in the morning air, much less any ice or snow? Well, that’s now our reality, and as much as I always thought MS had warm winters – this is the other end of the spectrum for sure. I mean how many places in MS can you have pictures like this one during Thanksgiving/Christmas time?

Maybe it’s time I introduce myself. I am Nickolee Roberts and Meridian is my hometown. I started a life changing, love relationship with Jesus Christ at the age of 4 and have been on this journey with Him ever since. I attended Mississippi College in Clinton and met my husband Steve (who is from Baldwyn). He was a youth minister and I taught 3rd grade that first year of marriage before we moved to Ft Worth for 2 years to attend seminary. In 2010 we moved back to Clinton, and started preparing to have a baby AND make a move around the world to serve as missionaries in Madagascar. Talk about a FULL first 4 years of marriage!81_504493180078_4726_n

Ryleigh was born on January 4, 2011 and we moved to Madagascar when she was 6 months old. Following Christ wherever He led was something we have always known we would do and we were ecstatic that He was opening doors for us to serve Him among the Mahafaly people. So, here we are two years later calling Tulear, Madagascar our home and currently expecting our 2nd little girl sometime this upcoming January. It can be a whirlwind even in the midst of the slow pace of life here but through it all He’s showing me how to have a grateful heart – on the fantastic days, the homesick days, and the culture shock days. I’m looking forward to sharing that with you this month!

As for the rest of the time, On The Journey is where you can find snippets of our journey with Him…it’s all about our life in Madagascar, His grace, “mommy moments”, and hopefully a transparent look into what’s going on in our hearts. Thanks for this opportunity to share what He is doing on our journey!
