Meet Jessica {Miss July}

July 1, 2013

jessicalambWell hey there! Pleased to virtually introduce myself. That’s lame, let’s start over.

Hi! I’m Jessica. Jessica Kiran Lamb, like the animal. That’s only funny in person. No it’s not. Is it?

This is off to an awkward start, I wonder how many have stopped reading?

Hey y’all, I’m Jess. But I also answer to Jessica, Jessi, Lamby, Lamb, and at one point in time everyone called me “Abu Dhabi”. That’s a city and a state, actually in the United Arab Emirates. It’s where I graduated high school.

To sum it all up, I was born in India, I lived in Kuwait, Pakistan, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates before moving “home” to the United States. Mississippi to be exact. That’s where I live right now. Well, actually at the moment I live in London, I’m here for work until next week. I own a home in Hattiesburg, I went to school at Southern Miss Go Eagles!, my sister and her husband live around the corner, my fiancée and I are getting married downtown in January, and I’m moving away in a few days like away, away.

On July 7th my crazy cat, Kudzu and I and yes, Kudzu likes to climb, just like the plant. Did you know it originally comes from Japan? I like to think Kudzu (the cat) is exotic too. I digress. Kudzu and I will fly (oh sweet lord give me the strength not to accidentally-on-purpose forget my cat on the jetway) to Northampton, MA. That’s Massachusetts, y’all. The first “M” state in the line up. Makes it really convenient when you’re placing an online order and are too lazy to scroll, just press “M” and bam! There it is.

Are you still with me? If so, kudos to you! So I’m from Mississippi and own property there, but I’ve still spent the least amount of time in the U.S. than outside of it. My parents are international school teachers and still teach abroad to this day. In my current line of work for a few more days I manage a study abroad office. I recently accepted a similar position but within the private sector in the cold northeast and am moving with cat and fiancée to Northampton, MA. I’m also planning a wedding in January and it might be the death of me.

I have so many stories to tell about travel, and I promise they won’t all start off so awkward-like and random. Stay tuned for lessons when planning a wedding in the south, moving up the country, sedating Kudzu and more. I might even talk about London a little more! It really is a brilliant city.

Nice to meet you, and looking forward to sharing it all…
