Instagram Issues {Tuesday Talk}

March 29, 2016

Tuesday Talk is a new weekly feature in which we focus on an issue or a question that affects bloggers. These posts are meant to be interactive and helpful.

Change

The blog world is abuzz with discussion about the changes to Instagram’s algorithm and what that means for bloggers, influencers, and followers. A few people think it’s not a big deal, some believe it’s terrible (even though they may not even have they update yet), and plenty of people have put in their two cents about how to handle the changes.

What say you, MSWBs? How do you plan to handle this phenomenon? Comment below to kick off the discussion!

I think it’s kind of annoying, honestly! It’s one of those if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it kinda situations! I feel like it’s really going to affect the online influence some people have. However, I follow almost the maximum amount of people on Instagram, so I already get notifications for some of my favorite people!

What do y’all think?

I definitely agree with Jessica on this one. Nothing’s wrong, so why change it? I think they’re following in the footsteps of big sister facebook. I don’t know what’ll come of it, but I’m wondering how they’ll decide who is shown on your feed?! So many questions! But you’ll have to tell me because I doubt I update for a while! 🙂

Yeah, it also made me think of what Facebook did, and I’m still annoyed with that, particularly in the role of a manager of pages.

I have seen some people requesting that their IG followers turn on notifications. Others have decided not to go that route, but are encouraging their followers to like and comment on their posts, hoping that will keep them in the feed. I see pros and cons to both – what say y’all?

Also, Kayla brings up a good point about not updating – if you don’t update the app, can you really avoid the changes?
